An Arctic airmass moved southward into the area, causing temperatures to plunge on the mornings of Jan 7-8. A hard freeze occurred over the entire forecast area on both mornings, and wind chills were in the single digits and teens on the morning on Jan 7th. As a result of the cold temperatures, several pipes burst on the FSU campus, resulting in damages of greater than $1 million as reported by the FSU Emergency Manager.
