Light snow and freezing drizzle occurred on the evening of the third into the morning of the fourth ahead of an upper level trough moving northeast out of northern Mexico. Abundant low level and near surface moisture contributed to freezing drizzle as well as some very light snow amounts from the far southern panhandle into the South Plains and Rolling Plains. Icy roads in Garza County caused a multiple vehicle accident on the northbound side of US Highway 84 at the intersection of FM 399 northwest of Post. One fatality was reported while four others were injured.
