Alligator River Bridgetender of the NC Department of Transportation observed a 40 mph marine thunderstorm wind gust.
Wider weather episode
A cold front stretching from the Great Lakes region to the Gulf Coast states moved east through Eastern North Carolina during the afternoon hours of January 11th, 2014. A line of thunderstorms associated with the cold front crossed the area producing several marine thunderstorm wind gusts.
