Wider weather episode

Weak west-northwest winds resulted in somewhat disorganized, but intense, lake effect snow in parts of northern Michigan. Snowfall rates exceeded two inches per hour at times. The NWS office near Gaylord picked up 16 inches of snow on the 15th, setting a new all-time record for a single calendar day. Eighteen inches fell a little west of the office, in eastern Antrim County. Meanwhile, a snowband of Lake Superior origin was enhanced as it crossed northern Lake Huron. This band impacted the Presque Isle County coast, with Rogers City picking up around a foot of new snow.
