Event narrative
A severe thunderstorm produced multiple brief EF-0 tornadoes along a more than 50 mile path from Muskegon county northeast through Newaygo county into Mecosta county. The tornadoes were on the ground for very short periods of time. Mostly tree damage was incurred but there was also damage to several buildings and fences.
Wider weather episode
Severe thunderstorms developed during the afternoon hours of November 17th in advance of a strong cold front. The storms blew down and uprooted numerous trees across lower Michigan, caused numerous power outages, significant straight line wind damage and even several brief weak EF-0 tornadoes.
