Event narrative

Snowfall amounts ranged between four and seven inches.

Wider weather episode

A cold and conditionally unstable air mass had become established across the Inland Northwest as a cold upper-level trough anchored over the region. A second low pressure system within a 36 hour period tracked across northern Oregon spreading a band of moderate snow within a deformation axis across extreme southeastern Washington and the lower Idaho Panhandle. As the low pressure system departed to the east, northwest flow in its wake led to numerous snow showers across the rising terrain of the Blue Mountains.
