During the early morning, temperatures dropped to or below freezing across Kenedy County for 4 hours. A Co-Op observer in Armstrong recorded a low of 29 degrees.

A cold front pushed across Deep South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley during the early morning hours of January 21st. High pressure in the wake of the front, combined with mostly clear skies and light overnight winds to allow for good radiational cooling on the morning of January 22nd. A large portion of the region had temperatures fall to or below freezing for a number of hours.
