An area of low pressure over the Ohio Valley and a secondary low developing off the mid-Atlantic coast on the morning of the 5th brought heavy snow to much of western and midcoast Maine as it tracked rapidly northeastward during the day. Snowfall amounts ranged from 6 to 10 inches across much of the area.
