An amateur radio operator in Harwich measured a wind gust of 48 mph on their home weather station.

The wider storm

A warm front moved northward into southern New England bringing warm air and unstable air into the region. Showers and a few thunderstorms developed as a cold front moved into the unstable air, particularly over the waters.
