National Ocean Service tide gauge at the United States Coast Guard station in Hatteras reported sustained winds of 50 knots with gusts to 59 knots as a thunderstorm crossed the area.
Wider weather episode
A cold front dropped southeast through the Eastern North Carolina coastal waters during the evening of April 15th 2014. A band of showers and scattered thunderstorms developed just ahead of the front and a few storms produced strong winds.
