A water spout 3/4 mile off shore of Carlsbad was observed by Skywarn spotters, who noticed the distinctive swirl of water at ocean surface.

Wider weather episode

Continued instability from the upper level low passing through southern California resulted in thunderstorms, one of which produced a waterspout just off the San Diego County coast near Carlsbad.
