A cold front triggered scattered severe thunderstorms over the middle and lower Susquehanna River Valley during the mid-afternoon. A moderately favorable combination of instability and shear yielded multiple reports of large hail (some 2+ diameter) just east of the Danville area near the Montour-Columbia county line. The very large hail produced significant property damage.
