An intense 954 mb storm just west of Shemya late Saturday morning continued to move north northeast into the north-central Bering Sea where it weakened to a 966 mb center early Monday. Moderate to strong westerly winds were observed along the 'back side' of the storm across much of the central and western Aleutians. Peak winds reached 68 mph at Adak early Sunday. Wind gusts finally diminished below 40 mph across the area late Sunday.
