Very strong winds blew across the central and eastern Aleutians late Saturday and Sunday as a strong 960 mb low moved up from the north Pacific into the south-central Bering Sea. The strong winds were observed along the southeast quadrant and entire southwest semicircle of the storm.Southerly wind gusts reached 94 mph around Dutch Harbor Sunday morning on the southeast side of the low. As winds shifted more southwesterly during the day, wind gusts from 60 mph to 70 mph buffeted the area.Further to the west, wind gusts from 60 mph to 70 mph were reported around Adak and Atka...diminishing below 60 mph early Sunday.Along the Alaska Peninsula, southeasterly wind gusts as high as 62 mph were recorded at Cold Bay Sunday afternoon.
