Strong high pressure over the Arctic Ocean moved slowly south while a trough of low pressure remainded stationary inland of the Arctic Coast. This increased winds along the Arctic Coast causing blizzard conditions at Wainwright, Nuiqsut, Point Lay and Kuparuk. As the trough weakened, the winds diminished and blizzard conditions ended.
