A severe thunderstorm produced a microburst that snapped six consecutive telephone poles at their base between County Road 39 and Head of Pond Road along Montauk Highway in Water Mill of Southampton. One pole fell onto a moving car causing minor injuries to 4 people. The microburst was confirmed by a NWS Meteorologist.Lightning struck a cluster of trees that fell through a car travelling north on Berry Hill Road in Oyster Bay Cove. A woman was instantly killed when she was crushed by the falling trees. Her husband received minor injuries.
