Wider weather episode
An intense low brought strong gusty south/southeast winds to the region. Wind gusts to around 45 knots were measured along the coast...with inland gusts ranging from 35 to 45 knots. The winds snapped many tree branches and toppled several trees which contributed to scattered power outages across the region. The hardest hit areas were generally nearer the coast...where much of Washington County lost power for a time due to downed power lines. The city of Brewer...in southern Penobscot County...also lost power for several hours.
