Rapid warming in early June after a cool May caused excessive snowmelt runoff in the Sagavanirktok and Colville Rivers.Flooding on the Sagavanirktok River and its tributaries closed portions of the Dalton Highway from June 7th through the 9th. Colville Village on the Colville River experienced its worst flood in forty years--the entire airstrip and several buildings flooded. Upstream on the Colville at Umiat there was minor flood damage to a handful of buildings and roads. Damage amount is estimated very roughly.
