Dense fog over the coastal waters caused a lone boater, en route from Oceanside to San Diego on a 24-foot sailboat to become disoriented. After calling the Coast Guard on the second morning, her vessel was located 40 miles south of Point Loma using Navy prototype radio signal direction finder equipment. She was then brought by helicopter to a San Diego hospital after she was determined to be suffering from hypothermia.
