Showers and thunderstorms developed over the northern half of Virginia as a moist tropical airmass covered the region. Between midday on the 24th through the evening of the 25th, between 1 and 3 inches of rain fell. In Frederick County, 2.02 inches of rain was reported in Gore, 1.91 inches fell in Star Tannery, and 1.60 inches fell southeast of Winchester. In Clarke County, 1.68 inches of rain fell at Mount Weather on the Loudoun County border. In Loudoun County, rainfall totals included 2.57 inches at Dulles International Airport, 2.34 inches in Sterling, 1.93 inches in Leesburg, and 1.77 inches in Lincoln. In Fairfax County, rainfall totals included 2.75 inches in Centreville, 2.65 inches in Herndon, 2.49 inches in Mt. Vernon, 2.46 inches in Great Falls and Vienna, 2.45 inches at Ft. Belvoir, 2.32 inches in Reston, and 2.28 inches in Annandale. In Alexandria, rainfall amounts averaged around 2.5 inches. In Falls Church, 2.83 inches of rain was reported. In Arlington County, 2.93 inches of rain fell in Arlington and 2.14 inches was reported at Washington National Airport. In Prince William County, 2.45 inches fell at Lake Jackson. An average of 2.5 inches was reported in Manassas and Manassas Park. In Stafford County, rainfall totals were estimated between 2 and 3 inches. A total of 2.15 inches was recorded in Fredericksburg. In Fauquier County, 2.63 inches fell at The Plains and 2.40 inches was recorded in Remington. In Warren County, rainfall totals included 2.52 inches at Hogback Mountain, 2.32 inches at Chester Gap, 2.28 inches at Manassas Gap, 2.16 inches at Browntown, 2.04 inches at Front Royal, 1.64 inches in Limeton, and 1.52 inches in Nineveh. In Shenandoah County, rainfall totals included 3.04 inches in Zepp, 2.32 inches at Mt. Olive, 2.28 inches at Camp Roosevelt, 2.16 inches at Detrick, 2.04 inches in Strasburg, 1.86 inches in New Market, 1.80 inches in Woodstock, and 1.60 inches in Edinburg. In Page County, rainfall totals included 2.64 inches at Rocky Branch, 2.24 inches at Big Meadows, 2.08 inches in Ida, and 1.92 inches at Lewis Mountain Camp. In Rappahannock County, 2.1 inches was reported in Castleton, 1.93 inches fell at Massie's Corner, and 1.88 inches fell in Sperryville. In Culpeper County, 2.29 inches fell in Boston and 1.90 inches fell in Culpeper. In Madison County, rainfall totals included 2.60 inches in Syria, 2.28 inches in Nethers, and 1.64 inches in Hood. In Rockingham County, totals included 3.20 inches on Dundore Mountain, 3.08 inches at Briery Branch, 2.60 inches on Long Run Road, 1.92 inches in Cootes Store, and 1.80 inches in Lynwood. In Augusta County, 2.04 inches fell at Hearthstone Lake, 1.84 inches fell at Stoney Creek, 1.64 inches fell at Upper Sherando, and 1.60 inches was recorded at Stuart's Draft. In Highland County, 4.52 inches fell in Monterey, 2.36 inches fell in McDowell, 2.32 inches was recorded in Hightown, and 2.30 inches fell at Mill Gap.
