A moderate Santa Ana wind event began Friday morning (11/17) and continued through the following weekend. The strongest winds occurred during the early morning and late evening hours, but no significant wind damage was reported. The main effect was a 10 to 20 degree (Fahrenheit) warmup over the inland valleys and along the coast. Temperatures, which had been running about 10 degrees below normal with daytime highs barely reaching 60 degrees, warmed to the mid 80s at many locations by Sunday.
