Dense fog moved north along the coast during the evening hours and inland after sunset. Visibility was less than 100 feet over the coastal waters, major airports, and highways between San Diego and Los Angeles. Marine and air transportation into and out of the region was shut down. Several recreational boaters became lost in the fog.
