Wider weather episode

Heavy rain developed along a cold front moving eastward across South Central Texas during the late afternoon and evening. General rainfall of 2 to 3 inches, with isolated totals to near 5 inches, were reported from Burnet to Llano to Leakey to Garner Park and back through Bandera and Fredericksbug to Burnet. Soils across the area were still wet from rainfall on the 2nd and 3rd and flash flooding developed quickly for generally 2 to 3 hours, then ended. A man aged 35 drowned in Gillespie County about 2100CST in Barron's Creek where it crossed the Old San Antonio Road between US87 and US290 some 4 miles southeast of Fredericksburg. His pickup was swept away into the creek just north of a bridge. His companion swam to safety but he was unable to do so.
