A rapidly developing North Pacific low grazed the outer coast of the southern Panhandle of Alaska as the system tracked northward into the Gulf of Alaska. This brought very strong winds to the region for a 12-14 hour period. Peak winds associated with this event were 81 mph at Hydaberg Seaplane Base, 75 mph at the Ketchikan Airport Tower, and 63 mph at Cape Decision.
