July was the hottest month ever in Northwest Florida. The average temperature for the month was 85.6 degrees in Pensacola. This broke the old record of 85.4 degrees. The temperature also reached 100 degrees or higher seven days during the month. The highest temperature during the month at the Pensacola airport was 103 degrees. Milton had five days of 100 degrees or higher with the highest being 102 degrees. Niceville had six days of 100 degrees or higher during the month with the highest temperature being 103 degrees. In addition to being hot, it was also dry. July ended up being the seventh driest July in the past 120 years. Since the first of the year, Pensacola has received only 16.73 inches of rain. This is almost 21 inches below the normal rainfall for this time of year.
