Two families from Richmond Hill in Bryan county were out boating when a strong thunderstorm developed suddenly. They took shelter under an eroded embankment, which was pierced by the roots of a large, isolated pine tree. The lightning struck the tree and traveled through the tree, down its roots and into the members of the two families. Everyone was knocked unconscious.
