Event narrative
A large oak tree uprooted and landed on a tent killing a 10 year old girl and injuring her father and brother. The tree fell approximately 1 hour after thunderstorms with heavy rains. Nearby observations and Doppler radar suggest around 1.90 inches of rain fell. The roots of the tree grew over a large rock and the soil was saturated from the heavy rain. These factors may have weakened the stability of the tree and it fell.
