Event narrative

Heavy snow fell over south central and southeast Wyoming over a 2 day period, with5 to 9 inches common. Elk Mountain, WY, reported 12 to 14 inches of snow while Cheyenne, WY, recorded a record 10.5 inches. Interstate 80 between Laramie and Rock Springs, WY, was closed during much of the storm, stranding up to 1200 travelers, mostly in Rawlins, WY.
