Thunderstorms during the afternoon of the 9th produced hail up to quarter size and damaging winds.Thunderstorm winds downed trees in Lexington, Natural Bridge, 5 miles west of Halifax, Ripplemead, 2 miles southwest of the City of Lynchburg, the City of Danville, Moneta, Turbeville, Cana, the City of Martinsville, across Bath, Alleghany, Montgomery, Pulaski, and Franklin counties. Trees were downed and blocked roads in Buchanon, the City of Bedford, the City of Roanoke, and across Amherst County. Numerous accounts of minor property damage were reported in all areas. A second round of thunderstorm winds downed trees again in the City of Danville.
