Heat — Jackson, Missouri
2000-08-22 to 2000-08-31 · Jackson, Missouri
Wider weather episode
Extreme heat gripped west central Missouri through the last ten days of August. High temperatures in the Kansas City area climbed above 90 degrees each day, and topped 100 on several days. The hottest days were the 28th and 31st, when temperatures reached 105 at Kansas City International Airport, and as high as 107 in the Kansas City metro area. A weak front on August 29th provided a break in the high temperatures for some, but there was no real relief as oppressive humidity kept afternoon heat indices above 100. The extreme heat claimed the life of a 68 year old Kansas City man. The heat wave continued into September across all of northern and western Missouri.
