An area of showers and thunderstorms that produced heavy rainfall moved across the central and southern Shenandoah Valley during the early morning hours of the 18th. In Page County, 1.52 inches of rain fell at Lewis Mountain Camp. In Rockingham County, 1.72 inches of rain fell on Long Run Road, 1.68 inches fell at Briery Branch, and 1.56 inches fell on Dundore Mountain. In Highland County, 2.39 inches of rain fell at Mill Gap, 2.27 inches fell at Mustoe, 2.20 inches fell in Monterey, 1.92 inches fell in McDowell, and 1.60 inches fell in Hightown. In Augusta County, 2.53 inches of rain fell in Craigsville, 1.92 inches fell in Sherando and Elkhorn Lake, 1.67 inches fell in Craigsville, 1.64 inches fell at Middlebrook and Jones Hollow, and 1.50 inches fell in Stuarts Draft. A total of 1.60 inches of rain fell in Waynesboro.
