Winter Weather — Southern Greenville, South Carolina

2000-12-13 to 2000-12-14 · Southern Greenville, South Carolina

Wider weather episode

Low pressure moving northward through the Tennessee River Valley brought abundant moisture into Upstate South Carolina, initiating a cold air damming event for the region. The progressive surface high for the event was centered over New England. Light freezing rain began to fall early on the afternoon of the 13th and continued until after midnight on the 14th with light ice accretions. Fortunately, the surface wet bulb temperatures across the region bottomed out around freezing, one reason why ice accrual on exposed surfaces was minimal.
