Flooding continued until the middle of May, at which time water levels dropped below flood stage for the first time in several weeks. Considerable damage was done to homes and businesses, especially in the communities of McGregor and Guttenberg (Clayton County). Both Allamakee and Clayton County received federal disaster relief funds.
