A severe storm brought very large hail and high winds to northern Jefferson County and southern Wasco County. In Jefferson County, this slow moving storm dumped torrential amounts of rainfall, washing out several sections of railroad track north of Madras. One farmer near Gateway reported 2 inches of rain, which fell within 1/2 hour. Large hail also damaged crops between the cities of Culver, Madras and Gateway. In Wasco county high winds with gusts estimated over 50 mph brought down many branches up to 8 inches in diameter.
