Warm moist air moving off of the Gulf of Alaska across cold air entrenched in the inner channels of Southeast Alaska result in significant snow falls. The heavier snows were limited to the colder interior valley locations where the cold air was not eroded. Hyder reported 24" of snow for their climate day, other reports as Canyon Island on the Taku river had 17" and the Customs stations on the Haines roadway reported 10.8"
