Major winter storm hit north central and eastern Idaho with wind gusts 40 to 50 mph and heavy snowfall for two days. Snowfall ranged from eight inches in the valleys with two to three feet of snow in the mountains. Some of the highest snowfall amounts in the mountains were Elk Butte 45 inches, Hemlocke Butte 36 inches, Cool Creek 34 inches, Mountain Meadows, Savage Pass and Saddle Mountain all recorded 15 inches. In the valleys, snowfall ranged from Elk City with 7 inches to 8 inches at Elk River and Shoup. Powell received 10 inches of snow.
