A northeasterly downslope wind event occurred on this date in downtown Juneau and Douglas. On the 9th, the "Taku winds" were measured as high as 64 mph on the Juneau Federal Building (85' ASL) and at the South Douglas Island mesonet site (9' ASL). On Sunday the 10th the South Douglas Island site measured a gust to 60 mph. High elevation peak wind readings included the Eagle Crest Ski Resort sensor (2624' ASL) at 81 mph and Sheep Mountain (3542' ASL) at 116 mph. Very minor damage was reported.
