A northeasterly downslope wind event occurred on these dates in downtown Juneau and Douglas. The notorious "Taku winds" measured as high as 67 mph at the South Douglas Island mesonet site (9' ASL). An anemometer on the Juneau Federal Building (85' ASL) measured a peak wind gust to 58 mph. High elevation peak wind readings included the Eagle Crest Ski Resort sensor (2624' ASL) at 86 mph and Sheep Mountain (3542' ASL) at 101 mph. A roof was blown off a shed in Douglas. Other minor damage was also reported.
