A vigorous upper level storm system moved from southwest Colorado and then into central Colorado producing some heavy snows over the southwest and central mountains. Some of the heavier snows were 12 inches at Santa Maria reservoir in Mineral county and 14 inches of snow at the Wolf Creek Ski area, which is also located in Mineral county. More than 8 inches of snow fell in the higher elevations of the Sawatch Range in central Colorado. An isolated high wind gust was also noted in Custer county where winds of 75 mph were recorded approximately 7 miles west of Westcliffe.
