Drought in Westcentral Mountains, New Mexico
Drought May 1, 2002 – May 31, 2002 · Westcentral Mountains, New Mexico
The wider storm
Drought conditions persisted through the month maintaining the high fire danger all across the region and forcing widespread sell offs of cattle since rangelands carried practically no spring grasses. Worries about an early cut-off of irrigation continued as snowmelt runoff peaked at near record low flows.
