A COOP observer southwest of Tiller reported that a few spots in the vicinity received hail from ping pong ball (1.5 inches) to golf ball (1.75 inches) size from a thunderstorm on the afternoon of 08/12/2014. Significant vegetation damage was observed in the area.

Wider weather episode

Monsoonal moisture combined with strong surface heating to support thunderstorm development on this day. Some of the thunderstorms became severe.
