Event narrative

Thundertorms moved over the open waters of Lake Erie during the afternoon of the 2nd. As the thunderstorm moved towards shore, it produced wind gusts of 51 knots. Winds from the thunderstorm across the open water were estimated to be at least 35 knots.

Wider weather episode

Several severe thunderstorms developed across northern Ohio during the afternoon hours of the 2nd. A weak cold front was located across the central Great Lakes during the afternoon. The warm and humid airmass ahead of this cold front allowed for a few severe thunderstorms to develop well ahead of this approaching cold front.
