Event narrative

Lightning struck and killed a teenager as he was running to take cover from a storm. He was found underneath a tree in a church's parking lot.

Wider weather episode

A cold front moved into Northeast Arkansas during the early evening hours of July 1st, 2014. Showers and thunderstorms developed ahead of the front. Lightning from the storms struck and killed a teenager and also produced a fire that damaged a municipal airport. In addition, isolated flash flooding occurred after two storms merged together.
