Event narrative
High winds blew down trees and damaged power lines which knocked out power to over 8000 homesas well as traffic signals, tying up traffic in Canyon County during the afternoon and evening. Heavy rain also caused street flooding in Nampa and Caldwell.
Wider weather episode
A very moist upper level trough moved eastward from California into southern Idaho during the aftenoon and evening. This system spawned numerous severe thunderstorms and wide spread heavy rain which caused flash flooding mainly in the mountains.
