A line of severe thunderstorms caused wind damage in Delaware County and hit Haverford and Tinicum Townships the hardest. A 24-year-old male was killed when a falling tree landed on and crushed his Sports Utility Vehicle while he was driving on Marple Avenue in Haverford Township. He died from head injuries. His 21-year-old girlfriend was seriously injured, but managed to crawl out of a window. In the Essington section of Tinicum Township the thunderstorm winds lifted a $12,000 canopy into a building at the West End Boat Club. Two boats also suffered wind damage. Trees were knocked down in the township and damaged one truck.
