A rare, north-south oriented squall line of thunderstorms developed over the Northeast Gulf south of Cape Yakataga. The squall line tracked east through the early afternoon hours and weakened once the northern portion ran into the coast near Yakutat. Vessels in the region reported wind gusts to at least 60 mph, small hail and cloud-to-ocean lightning.
