A waterspout was observed from the north end of Miami Beach by an off duty NWS employee. The waterspout was estimated to be about 25 miles east of Bal Harbour.

A strong upper level trough of low pressure over the eastern U.S. caused strong thunderstorms to develop across the South Florida waters.
