Event narrative

The Emergency Manager reported a lightning strike injured seven people near Powder Springs. Three were taken to a local hospital and the other four were treated on the scene.

Abundant, deep moisture and a series of short waves moving through the region in a generally zonal mid and upper-level flow pattern produced isolated to scattered reports of thunderstorm wind damage across North and Central Georgia each day, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours when instability was maximized due to diurnal heating.
