The Mid-Atlantic was in between a cold front approaching form the Appalachian Mountains and Hurricane Arthur off the Delaware Coast. Warm and humid conditions were across the region and showers and thunderstorms led to heavy rain. Unstable conditions led to severe thunderstorms that produced damaging winds and large hail.
