Cordova and Valdez area DOT reported local minor flooding across some roads in the area.

Wider weather episode

The remnants of an intense Bering Sea storm moved into the Gulf of Alaska September 14th through the 16th bringing heavy rain to southeast Prince William Sound. Cordova reported 10.61 inches of rain beginning September 12th through September 16th. The heaviest rain fell on September 13th, 4.94 inches in 24 hours. The heavy rainfall resulted in water flooding and causing minor erosion along the Copper River Highway and Eyak Lake Road. These roads were temporarily closed to traffic due to the minor flooding and erosion.
